Open Connecticut 2.0 is another step forward for state spending transparency in Connecticut, following Governor Malloy’s Executive Orders to increase the transparency of economic development assistance and tax credits, and the launch of Connecticut’s open data portal, data.ct.gov. Taxpayers have ever more state spending information at their fingertips, allowing for increased accountability and public scrutiny.

Open information about the public purse is crucial for democratic and effective government. It is not possible to ensure that government spending decisions are fair and efficient unless information is publicly accessible.

We look forward to working with Comptroller Lembo and other Connecticut leaders to continue increasing transparency in Connecticut, especially in regards to tax credits, where more transparency is still needed.
